Csenia Irvin- GRIT Athlete of the Week – May 6, 2024

Coach Travis Cummings notes “Csenia just recently accepted her offer at the University of Alberta and will be representing the Pandas next year in Track and XC. Their program is receiving an outstanding athlete and human.

Csenia is a multi-talented, jack of all trades type of human. She is an outstanding athlete, having won multiple medals at the club and high school level provincially in XC and Track; she has represented CEPR at the National level on multiple occasions, and represented Zone 2 at Alberta Summer Games in 2023. Csenia coaches with our feeder program, the Cochrane Sparks Youth Triathon club and also coaches Junior Lifeguarding for the Cochrane Water Ninjas (she also competes with the Water Ninjas, and is a National quality athlete in Lifesaving Sport). She is also a Certified Lifeguard and works at Spray Lakes Recreation Center, also in Cochrane. She is a hard-working, successful student; and amid all these responsibilities, maintains a healthy social life. Csenia leads by example, demonstrates excellence every time she is at practice, but also shows a mature balance that is rare for her age. Obviously she is a proven leader, but qualities like empathy, respect, compassion, resiliency, drive, motivation, and joy for sport emanate from her naturally. These things make her who she is. Csenia is the type of athlete that is a glue that keeps a program together, all programs need quality people like this to believe in them in order to be successful. She has been and will continue to be a pillar of our women’s Age Class and Adult programs as she graduates from Cochrane High and moves on to a Pandas team that is very lucky to have her. Likely one of the best candidates our organization has put forward for GRIT in the past year, Csenia’s humility doesn’t go overlooked, and CEPR is very proud of this young woman, and will continue to be as she progresses in her running career.”

Congratulations, Csenia!
