Athletics Alberta requires Safe Sport training and a criminal record check to be completed for our provincial coaches, officials, support staff, and adults who may travel with our teams to compete.

We strongly encourage everyone in our sport to complete Safe Sport training. The training is free and is geared towards the level of interaction a person has with athletes (no contact, contact).

Athletes are encouraged to take this training for self-education and self-awareness. As has been said “you can’t know you are being groomed unless you know what grooming is.”

Currently, Athletics Canada requires all national office staff and the Board of Directors to complete the Respect in the Workplace program and all national team coaches, officials, support staff and any other adult who may travel with the national team to complete the Respect in Sport training. We encourage Respect in Sport for all our members.
