Kiera has been nominated by her teammate, Aelyn Switzer. “At practice Kiera is a leader. She never ceases to encourage and push her teammates so they reach their goals. The workout may be tough, but quitting never crosses her mind. She never shrinks from a challenge, and she instills this mindset in ALL of her teammates. She leads warmups and always puts others before herself in and out of practice. But despite her amazing talent and work ethic, she always has a humble and compassionate heart. She respects athletes no matter their skill level, and treats everyone as her equal.
Kiera’s amazing attitude and character doesn’t stay at the finish line though. Her passion and tenacity expressed at practices and races follows her to school, home, and every situation. Her sense of humor keeps everyone in a good mood, and her fun personality fuels us through the day. She is the same person at practice as she is out of it. Whether it’s driving people around, braiding hair, cleaning up after a workout, helping younger kids hone their skills, or just being there for a friend in need, Kiera is always at hand and eager to help.
Kiera’s amazing character hasn’t only helped others, it has also helped her arrive at her astounding athletic achievements. Whether it’s a 5km, a 3000m, a 1500m, a steeplechase, or a 4x 400m relay, she always lays it all on the line. She has won multiple Metro titles, proving that she is a force to be reckoned with. If there is one thing that Kiera always displays during a race or at practice, it is the drive to always finish, and you bet she is going to finish HARD.
Thank you Kiera for always being there for us at practice and out of it. We don’t know what we would do without you, you are such a light to everyone.”
Congratulations, Kiera!
