Beloved Masters athlete, Helly Visser, has passed away. Helly currently holds three world masters records in the W80 category in the 1500, mile and 3000m events, all set in Edmonton in 2014. She currently holds 12 Canadian masters records and broke many others. She holds numerous Alberta masters records and was named Athletics Alberta Masters Athlete of the Year on several occasions.
She won many medals at the World Masters Athletics Championships.
She was 89 years old and competed until 2019.
Helly was inducted into the Canadian Masters Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010. The full article on the induction is here.
