Nominated by her teammate, Kate, this week’s GRIT Athlete of the Week is Marrin Johnson.
Says Kate: “I am nominating Marrin Johnson for her unwavering support, determination and dedication. After suffering a traumatic injury to the hip, Marrin was forced to take a break from running. Running was a big part of her life, so this one truly one of the hardest things she has ever had to do. Instead of getting down on herself and giving up, she took it upon herself to find forms of cross training that she could safely perform in order to continue to chase her dreams. In addition, even if she is unable to compete, she continues to come to her teammates track meets and practices to cheer them on. She inspires me along with my fellow teammates the importance of never giving up even when we are faced with adversity.
Gratitude-Even if Marrin is injured and unable to run, she continues to be grateful for what her body is still able to accomplish
Respect-She continues to respect her teammates by supporting them and encouraging them to excel in the sport of running
Integrity-She holds herself accountable and stays disciplined with her training even if she is unable to take part in running
Teamwork- Marrin helps her teammates reduce their stress levels before track meets and cheers her teammates on during their hardest training sessions.”
Congratulations, Marrin!
