As you may know, yesterday AHS made an announcement regarding a 14 day shut down of sports across our province. As a consequence, a number of our sports facilities have been closed to athletes. Given this, our athletes across the province won’t be able to train and prepare for competitions we were hoping to hold before Christmas. Therefore we have made the difficult decision to cancel both Last Chance and the Dino Opener – both were in the works and we were hoping to make announcements this week. Sadly we won’t be able to hold any sanctioned events until after Christmas.
If the facility in your area of our province is still accessible, please know you are able to train per our Indoor Guidelines, the facility’s restrictions/guidelines, and AHS. We are a single-person sport and, as such, are able to continue training – but only if we follow our guidelines very carefully.
This has been a difficult year and it can be challenging to stay optimistic, we know. That said, we are thankful we got to come together for recent cross country provincials. We are also very thankful you are being so conscientious with our Covid guidelines. Now we look forward to Indoor Meets and a safe winter until then; yes, we hope to hold Indoor Meets.
Keep your eye on our social media as we’ll be having a contest in the coming day or two. We want to see how you train and stay active in the midst of this lockdown and beyond. Let’s stay connected as we can – on social media – and in our cohorts, distanced.
Stay well and send any questions our way to [email protected].
