Donate to the Mariano Ezeta Track and Field Scholarship

On April 30th, the University of Calgary Dinos track and field team lost Mariano Ezeta to a long battle with cancer.

The Dinos are saddened by this news and extend our deepest condolences to Mariano’s family, friends and teammates.

Mariano, 23, competed for the track and field team during the 2012-13 and 2014-15 seasons and won a Canada West Men’s Track and Field Championship with the Dinos in 2015. He won conference gold medals in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays that season. Individually, Mariano earned a Canada West bronze in the 300m and finished seventh overall at nationals.

It was shortly after the 2015 season that he was diagnosed with cancer and was forced to miss the past two seasons. Our thoughts remain with Mariano’s family, friends and teammates.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Calgary Dinos, where a track and field scholarship is being established in Mariano’s name. We welcome friends and family to contribute. For more information please contact Alex Molotsky at [email protected] or 403-220-7207.

The Gauntlet interviewed Ezeta in 2015, before his diagnosis. He spoke about the pressures of balancing athletics and academics. Click Here to see it.
