Hosting Information

Athletics Alberta is the recognized and authorized sport governing body for athletics competitions in Alberta. An Athletics Alberta sanction is an agreement to host an athletics competition and is awarded to competitions which meet the needs of our sport. By accepting the sanction the event organizer agrees to the rules, regulations and conditions outlined by Athletics Alberta.

The event organizer is expected to run the event in accordance with the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) and Athletics Canada’s rules to ensure the accuracy of results and validity of records. Sanctioning is also provided for insurance purposes and for participants’ safety.

MEET MANAGER for Track & Field (TFMM) is the most widely used meet management software in the world.

Most meets in Alberta and Canada use Meet Manager to run their meet. You can add options to customize MEET MANAGER depending on the kind of meet you plan to run. Also, many clubs and schools use the complimentary product, Team Manager, to track rosters, records, entries, and athlete profiles.

EventKit Rentals

Athletics Alberta has an EventKit available for use by members and member-affiliated clubs, and associate members, as well as non-member groups, clubs and organizations. Each EventKit is equipped with essential gear to assist in organizing and running all types of community sport events, be it local or international.

The EventKit includes the following basic package. This may be reserved as an entire package or as a combination of select items (some restrictions apply).

*Please Note:Weekend rentals are based on Friday 3:00 p.m. pickup and Monday 9:00am return. Rental rates for weekend usage are calculated on a per day basis for actual time used.

Conditions of Usage

  • Reservations may be placed up to 3 months minimum in advance.
  • Renters accept full responsibility for returning all equipment in its original state and packaging as received (normal wear and tear expected), including all instruction and reference manuals, and will be held responsible for any repair or replacement costs.

Sanctioning Information

What does sanctioning a race/meet mean?
A “Sanction” is an official designation issued by Athletics Alberta, which approves and licenses the holding of a competitive and recreational events in the Province of Alberta.

The sanction is not only a contract in which provides event consistency in following national and international rules and regulations of our sport but more importantly it acknowledges the need to provide a safe environment for the participants and spectators.

Once an event has satisfied the sanction requirements, the event’s application for sanction is approved.
