It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Edmonton area Official, Graham Overn. Many in the Athletics community will remember him as ‘one of the sand people’ as he liked to say. Graham became an official in 2017 and quickly rose to level 4 in Horizontal Jumps. He was always ready with a smile and a playful joke for all officials at the meets and he will be missed by all who knew him.
At his request, there will not be a service but his obituary may be found online.
As one official noted: “Such sad news. I always looked forward to officiating with Graham. He made Horizontals a fun place to be. Graham will be dearly missed.”
Officials Chairperson, Irene Gaudet expressed sadness: “I will miss Graham. He always made time to talk with all officials as they passed the area he worked with if he had time. I know he will be sorely missed by the horizontal jumps group. If you are ever in Fort Saskatchewan where he lived, check out the Graham Overn media booth at Tarus Field where he was a long-time game announcer.”
