Coach Christine Laverty Honoured with Sportsperson of the Year Award

Warm congratulations to Coach Christine Laverty! Christine was honoured recently by the Calgary Booster Club with the Sportsperson of the Year Award – the club’s flagship honour.

Christine was honoured for coaching more than 50 years in Calgary and nationwide. “Christine Laverty’s coaching experiences with Calgary Track West, Calgary Track and Field, and the Calgary Spartans have not only elevated individual athletes but have also positively impacted the broader track and field community in Calgary. Her ability to mentor and develop athletes who have gone on to achieve great success on the international stage is a testament to her exceptional coaching abilities,” said Jason Lindsay, senior coach with Calgary Track & Field.

With many years coaching with Caltaf and now the Calgary Spartans, along with a long tenure on the Association’s Board of Directors, we know Coach Christine has made a lasting, meaningful impact on our sport. It’s wonderful to see her being honoured by the Calgary Booster Club.
