ATHLETICS ALBERTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
This is a volunteer position, successful candidates are required to attend scheduled Board and Committee meetings.
Athletics Alberta is currently seeking qualified candidates to join its Board of Directors to provide strategic leadership and direction, oversight, and governance to the association. We are looking for qualified individuals who are passionate about the growth and success of Athletics in Alberta to put their names forward for consideration. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of our sport at the provincial level. We are committed to building a gender-equitable board that reflects the rich multicultural diversity of our athletics community.
Athletics Alberta is a volunteer non-profit society, and the governing body for track and field, road running and cross country running, in Alberta.
Members of the Athletics Alberta Board of Directors are a diverse team of leaders with combined experience in sport, finance, public relations, law, corporate governance, strategic planning, and senior management in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
We currently have a need for new board members who have a skillset and experience in the following areas:
- Stakeholder and Government Relations – individuals with a broad network of connections within Alberta, including relationships with key stakeholders of Athletics Alberta, including donors/sponsors, and representatives of municipal and provincial government with a demonstrated commitment to sport.
- Marketing/PR Acumen – individuals with demonstrated marketing and PR acumen, in a non-profit environment preferred, bringing the ability to promote, raise awareness and tell our story at the board level.
- Legal/Governance – individuals with strong legal and governance experience, particularly having worked with and supported non-profit organizations.

Eligibility: To be eligible for election to the Board of Directors, nominees shall forward the following:
- a copy of their resume,
- a completed skills matrix document,
- a nomination form signed by two members of the Association,
- a statutory declaration as provided by the Association’s office,
- an up to date completed criminal record check,
- completed Safe Sport training, and,
- must have a current Athletics Alberta membership at time of submission.
