» Team Alberta (Youth)

In 2010, the Alberta Youth Team will battle it out with Saskatchewan , Manitoba and British Columbia for the title of Western Canadian Youth Champion in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 24 - 25, 2010. This year's competition looks to provide the highlights from many aspiring provincial and national team athletes from the Western provinces of Canada.

The Trials for Alberta's Midget team will take place on June 26 - 27, 2010 at the St. Albert Challenge at Fowler Athletic Park in St. Albert, Alberta. Only athletes competing at this meet in the Youth (16 & 17) category will be considered for selection to represent Alberta at the 2010 Western Canadian Youth Track & Field Championships.

Selection of the Alberta Youth Provincial Team will be done by the coaching staff, based on the following selection criteria:

• First place at Trials.
• Coaching Staff selection from Athlete Pool. Competing at Trials.
• The team size will be 40 athletes, with an equal gender split as possible.

Athletes must be registered with Athletics Alberta. Each athlete chosen to the team will be required to pay a team fee of $850. Please note that the deadline for submitting the team fee is Sunday July 5, 2010. All fees have to be paid prior to being fully selected to the team. Please make team fees payable to Athletics Alberta.

Athletes selected to the team may be required to compete in more than one event. Athletes will receive:

• Air Travel to Winnipeg, Manitoba
• Accomodations at the University of Manitoba
• Western Canadian Championships team social.
• Team Alberta Competition Kit
• Meet Entry fees paid

Athletes will be responsible for:

• All athletes must pay the team fee prior and sign the athlete consent form prior to departure from Alberta

Please note:

• Spikes for track and field events must comply with IAAF rules;
• Athletes must wear proper provincial uniforms;
• All competitors must be registered members of their repected branches of Athletics
